The Sony smartphone is the first handset not designed or built by Google to get the latest version of the mobile operating system.
According to the Xperia Blog , the new release will have the build number 38.3.A.0.41.
With the new update comes a flurry of new features, including a new shortcut to the restart button which appears when holding down the power button.
Google first introduced this feature with the Google Pixel, released back in October 2016.
Elsewhere, the move to Android 7.1.1 Nougat will ensure the camera app has a faster startup, as well as the latest security patches, first rolled out by Google in December 2016.
Sony will reportedly add PlayStation 4 PS4 Remote Play with this new release.
Unfortunately, this new software update will not be available to all Xperia X owners – that will come later in another update.
